Refund Policy

Cancellation Policy & Refund Policy for LJ Academics

​These are the cancellation policies, refund policies, and expiration policies for Private Coaching Sessions, Packages of Private Coaching Sessions, Services, and Online Courses offered by LJ Academics. See Terms and Conditions for additional information on the return and refund policy for Digital Products. 

 

Cancellation Policy for Individual Coaching Sessions: Private coaching sessions have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Since an appointment is time is reserved for each client, I ask that you cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours ahead. Please be aware that if you do not cancel or reschedule, then you will be charged the fee for up to one full hour for your missed session. No-shows or missed appointments are charged at the same rate. 

 

I also understand that on rare occasions, true emergencies may arise. I will do my best to accommodate emergency situations that require last-minute rescheduling. Occasional requests to move your appointment at the last minute will be considered but are not guaranteed and if it is not possible to reschedule, then the full rate will be charged if the client does not show up. 

 

Refund Policy for Private Coaching Sessions: Private coaching sessions are to be charged at an agreed-upon hourly rate (or portion of an hour) after the completion of the session, on a credit card to be held on file. 

 

I want you to be satisfied with the coaching you received in your session. Therefore, I have a no-risk, 100% guarantee refund policy for private coaching sessions.

If for some reason you are not completely satisfied with the coaching you received in your session, you may request a refund for the most recent session that you paid for. The refund request must be made within three days of the session and before another session is held. To request a refund, send an email to lauren@ljacademics.com within three days of the session, stating that you wish to receive a refund. The funds will be returned to you through the manner in which they were received.  

 

Please note that if you request a refund, all future sessions with LJ Academics will be canceled, and you are forfeiting your right to use any materials produced or intellectual property generated during that session. Thus, you may lose access to the materials in a shared online folder that were generated during that last session, and you are forfeiting your right to use the intellectual property that was generated during that session. Please also note that you can only receive a refund for the most recent session, not prior sessions.

Cancellation, Refund, and Expiration Policy of Packages of Private Coaching Sessions

Private coaching sessions may be sold in packages, which may or may not reduce the cost of each session when purchased in bulk (e.g., 4 hour packages, 8 hours). 

 

Refunds: A customer may request a refund to a package of sessions within a 24 hour grace period after purchase, so long as no more than one session has taken place. If the 24-hour grace period has passed or more than one session has been used, the packages are no longer refundable. Rare exceptions to this may be granted under extenuating circumstances such as a personal emergency at the discretion of the coach, and requires documentation of the special circumstances requiring a refund. The coach is not required to refund the package. Also, the customer is agreeing to purchase the sessions at that particular rate, within that package; by purchasing the package, the customer acknowledges and agrees to pay that rate per hourly session, regardless of other packages offered that may be at a lower rate per session. .

 

Expiration of Packages: The amount of time that the sessions will remain as credits for customer use, in which they remain available to the client after purchase or after the end of a course, will be clearly noted for each package purchased. For example, the credits may be usable for 3 months from date of purchase, or 6 months, and this may change depending upon the number of sessions purchased in bulk. By purchasing that package, the client is agreeing to those terms of expiration. Exceptions and extensions to the expiration of session hourly credits may be granted according to the coach’s discretion. Use of the hours in the package and the amount of time left out of the package will be recorded in a location available to both the coach and client, such as a Google Document that clearly records the date, time used, and hours left over. When purchased in packages, the sessions are–unless otherwise noted–meant to be used as hourly credits. At the discretion of the coach, portions of sessions in half-hour or even 15 minute increments may be charged, so as to maximize the benefit to the client, such as when a session runs longer than one hour and a portion of another hourly session is used. 


Bundled Packages of Private Coaching Sessions with Courses: Packages of private coaching sessions may be sold as part of a bundle, such as with a live course, where the purchase of multiple sessions may or may not reduce the cost of each session, and where it is purchased along with (to accompany and add to) a live course. These sessions cannot be purchased without purchase of the accompanying course first. The terms of the expiration of these credits will be stated with the bundle, including such terms as the length of time that these hourly credits will remain available to the customer for use after purchase or after the end of a course will be clearly noted for each bundled package. Regarding use of portions of hourly credits, the same conditions as noted above for packages of private sessions will apply for bundled packages of private coaching sessions, with portions of hours to be used only at the coach’s discretion as needed, with the client’s verbal consent. Remaining credits and hours used will be clearly recorded and available to both coach and client to view, as noted above. 

Cancellation, Refund, and Expiration Policy for Online Courses:

Customers are guaranteed access to the online course and its materials for 3 full months after the initial purchase of the course. Additional time to access the course after its completion may be possible upon discretion of the coach, while 3 months from date of purchase is guaranteed. 

 

Purchase of access to online courses, such as GradLaunch, include several components: the live, synchronous online classes that occur at a specified time online (or recordings of these live sessions) as well as access to educational materials provided to the clients as part of the course. 

 

These materials are meant only to be used by the person who has purchased and enrolled in the course. The materials should not be shared with anyone outside of the course, including any posting of the materials for public view; they are the intellectual property of the coach and use of them in any inappropriate way, such as for sale or for coaching others, constitutes a violation of the terms under which they are offered to the client. If it is discovered that the materials are being shared with others, at any point either during or after the course, for profit or just made available or visible, the customer’s access to the course and any other materials will be eliminated, their payment will not be refunded (including any upcoming payments in a payment plan), and they may be prosecuted for infringement of intellectual property rights if relevant. 

 

Cancellations and Refunds for the Course and Accompanying Coaching Packages: Live, synchronous courses such as GradLaunch have small numbers of enrolled students, with limited space available, in order to ensure the quality of the course and learning experience. Also, the coach intentionally reserves sufficient time in her schedule ahead of time to provide private coaching sessions according to the packages purchased by GradLaunch course members. For these reasons, as a general rule, no refunds of the live course and accompanying private coaching packages will be granted.  Exceptions to this rule, noted below, will be granted only under the rarest of conditions, as cancellations and refunds are highly impactful and difficult to accommodate for the coach. 

 

Exceptions to the No Cancellations/Refund Rule: The coach recognizes that there may be extenuating circumstances such as an emergency that create some exceptions to the rule. 

 

24 hour grace period after purchase: A customer who has purchased the course is granted a 24 hour grace period after the time of purchase to request a refund. This also requires that the customer has not accessed and downloaded the materials more than is reasonable to determine that the course is not a good fit. 

 

An exception to the rule may be pre-arranged with the coach to determine fit for the course, so that a customer may purchase the course ahead of time (prior to the opening of the course) and, after discussing it with the coach, agreed that it may or may not be a good fit. With the coach’s consent, the client may have access to the course for 24 hours to determine whether it’s a good fit, and, if conducted in good faith, may receive a full refund. This arrangement must be pre-established with the coach in writing, and the arrangement will also apply to refund of packages of coaching sessions, as agreed-upon ahead of time.
